The Old Ways Overview
Cristine is a journalist who arrives at her birthplace Catemaco to write a story about her local tribes and their pleasant old ways. Although she finds herself imprisoned in a house by a local Shaman after conducting a survey of the caves. The caves are filled with supernatural creatures and filled with stories of disappearing people.
Cristina’s sister Marianda suddenly visited her in the prison and she’s shocked after knowing that Cristina couldn’t speak Spanish. Cristina was dazed after knowing that Marianda was the one who handed her to the Shaman. Luz and her son Javi conduct many rituals, and evil appears in many different ways.
However at first a pessimist, Cristina is converted by the experience. In a ritual, the shaman Luz passes away. In a ceremony, the bruja summoned the demon by attaching the triangular structure made out of sticks on the ground. In a video attestation, Cristina said that she already knew her fate before even going into the cave. But thankfully Marianda rescues her and ends up in Bruja’s custody.
Cristina was wounded when her mother was also possessed by a demon. Marianda argues with Cristiana to keep the old ways because she has read the book and knows the process. She wears the makeup of Burj and begins to chant the rituals. It seems that with the death of Luz, the power of seeing is transferred to Cristina.
