Sixteen-year-old Elva has a secret. She has visions and strange powers that she will do anything to hide. She knows the warnings about what happens to witches in their small village of Hanau. She’s heard the terrible things people say about the witch of the North Woods and the malicious hunts that follow…

When Elva accidentally witnesses a devastating vision of the future, she decides she has to do everything to prevent it. Tapping into her powers for the first time, Elva discovers a magical mirror and its owner—none other than the witch of the North Woods herself. As Elva learns more about her burgeoning magic and the lines between hero and villain start to blur, she must find a way to right past wrongs before it’s too late.

The Mirror Broken Wish Review

This fairy tale mashup will hold all your attention. This story follows a young woman who befriends but ultimately betrays a witch, then follows her daughter as she repeats a similar fate.

Agnes begins a friendship with her neighbor Mathilda when she moves into a cottage. She turns out to have magical powers. Mathilda agrees to help Agnes have a child so long and Agnes promises to her that she will always remain a loyal friend. Later Agnes broke her promise to remain a loyal friend.

After Seventeen years Agnes’s daughter Elva started to get visions of the future and she went out for help from the same witch. Dao creates a fascinating world by combining threads from multiple fairy tales (magic mirrors, mystical pregnancies, lucky fish), where all the stories are true and untrue.

This novel is set in Northern Europe in the 1800s and the main characters in the story are portrayed as white. Once you will end this book surely you will wait for the sequel eagerly.

Broken Wish will take you to the beautifully wrought fairy tale that is at once familiar and new.  The Mirror Broken Wish introduces you to Elva, whose family past is covered with secrets and curses. It will be hard for you to put down until the final page!”
