Solomon Kane is a French British Czech action-adventure film based on the pulp magazine character of the same name created in 1928 by Robert E. Howard.

The film is written and directed by M. J. Bassett, the film stars James Purefoy in the title role. It is produced by Paul Berrow, Samuel Hadida, Kevan Van Thompson.

However, the film is distributed by Metropolitan Filmexport, Entertainment One, Optimum Releasing. The production companies are Davis Films, Czech Anglo Productions, Wandering Star Pictures.

Why Solomon Kane is rated R ?

A young boy is brutally murdered in front of his parents. The father too is then killed.
A scene where a seemingly innocent, young girl transforms into a witch may startle viewers.
A man is seen attacking a young woman, presumably to rape her.
Some decapitations involve blood spurts here and there. As well as stabbings and a crucifixion.
Several uses of “damn”, “h*ll” and “fool”. Nothing particularly graphic.
Kane is drunk in a scene when he despairs in believing he will be damned.
