After nearly 40 years of marriage, the couple Dan Aykroyd and his wife Donna Dixon decided to separate their ways, the couple announced on Friday (29 April).

After meeting on the set of the comedy flick Doctor Detroit the couple tied the knot back in 1983.

The couple said that they still maintain a ‘loving friendship’ and will remain legally married.

In a joint statement, the couple told People Magazine .“After 39 years as a couple, we are now on separate life paths. We remain legally married, co-parents, co-workers, and business partners,”

“This is our choice in loving friendship.”

The couple starred in several films together including “Twilight Zone: The Movie” (1983), “Spies Like Us” (1985), “The Couch Trip” (1988), and “Exit to Eden” (1994).

Aykroyd and Dixon have three daughters — Danielle, 32 (a singer-songwriter who goes by Vera Sola), Belle, 28, and Stella, 24.

Donna was previously engaged to Paul Stanley of the rock group KISS while Dan was once engaged to Carrie Fisher. (Google)
