Jazmine Marie Sullivan was born on April 9, 1987. She is an American singer-songwriter and was born and raised in Philadelphia, her debut album, Fearless was released in 2008 to commercial and critical success.

She was shocked to take home the award for best R&B album at the 2022 Grammy Awards. Jazmine Sullivan received the award on Sunday night for Heaux Tales, beating her fellow nominees Snoh Aalegra, Jon Batiste, Leon Bridges, and H.E.R.

Sullivan told the audience that she wrote Heaux Tales to deal with her own shame and unforgiveness around some of the sins that she made in her 20s.
