It takes place in 343 Industries called “Silver Timeline”. The Silver Timeline is a separate version of the Halo universe that is very similar to Halo games and novels but it is not the same as them.
By the Silver Timeline, its showrunners could craft its story without having to worry about adhering to the events of previous Halo media. The silver timeline also helps them to ensure that the TV series is more approachable for the audience who are not already a fan of the Halo series or to them who are not previously known to the Halo series.
I am glad they didn’t follow the games, which were derivative, with formulaic gameplay, and grossly overrated! When the best thing about a franchise is a fan-made toon called Red vs Blue, you know something ain’t entirely right.
