They Both Die At The End Summary

They Both At The At The End is a book about a pre-information of one’s death or last day. The book’s story plots on the life of a very shy boy, Mateo Torez who spent his almost life in his house, and Rufus Emeterio, a quite smart boy with a dark and deep past.

On Sep 5 in the middle of the night, they received a call that informed them that they’re going to die very soon. Mateo first decide to spent his last day in his bedroom but soon he made a decision to live truly at the end day of his life, he installed the app “The Last Friend” where he can find other lonely deckers to spent time with. where, as Rufus was totally different from Mateo he was running from the cops for assaulting Peck, his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, he also downloaded the app as he doesn’t want to spend his last alone.

They both were total strangers but they wanted to make a new friend on their last day because of their personal reasons. And fortunately, they met on the app and decided to spent their last day together and live their whole life adventure in a single. They both visits Mateo’s father who has been hospitalized for 2 weeks Mateo said goodbye to his father and leaves a note for him to read when he wakes up.

Then Mateo decided to visit his goddaughter. on other hand, Rufus shared his past that how his whole family got the same death call and left him the only survivor. They both shared their life plans and goals with each other which was not going to happen now.

They also visit the last deckers center where they can do any dangerous activity without and fear. They did so many savage activities that were quite new to Mateo and planned for both. they went to deckers club (where all the last day people get together) where Peck arrived with his boys and some loaded guns.

Adam Silvera’s Inspiration for They Both Die at the End

Anyhow, they run from the spot and went back to Mateo’s apartment Mateo wants to tell his father about his day Rufus made a video to show his father and they both fall asleep. Mateo wakes up first and went to the kitchen to make some tea for two of them and as he turns on the flame it blows and becomes the reason for his death.
