The Book Thief Book

It’s a bit dark, I’d say the perfect amount of darkness, and it has that dark royal vibe to it.
Alessandra, the main character, tells the reader on the very first page that she killed and buried her first lover and plans to marry and then kill the king to take his throne.
Sexual Content and Nudity-  There is only one actual sex scene in the book, and it’s not described well.
There are other scenes of Kissing, Undressing, groping that was described in detail on another occasion.
Violence: A character is stabbed and he dies of his wounds.
There are magical healing of wounds after getting poisoned or bullet to the chest
There are scenes of Boxing matches with bloody injuries and a broken nose.
Mentions of hangings, a stabbing death, insurgents rounded up and killed.
Drinking/ Drugs:  Alcohol by 18-year-olds. A character says he’s drinking heavily at a boxing match “to have a better time.”
Occasional use of wine at dinner and parties.
Language: “A**,” “hell,” and “damn,” and other bad words for women.

The Shadows Between Us Overview

Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:
1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.

No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.

But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen―all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

“Tricia Levenseller’s latest, The Shadows Between Us, is a decadent and wickedly addictive fantasy, full of schemes and court intrigue, and delightful descriptions of food, which I am always a fan of.” ―Kendare Blake, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Three Dark Crowns series [Source: tricialevenseller.com]
