The series is a revival of the original television series of the same name and follows some of the same characters. All the main stars from the original Saved by the Bell reprised their roles in the revival.

However, the series is produced by Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen, Josie Totah and the production companies are Big Wig Productions, Universal Television.
