As mentioned above, it was founded in 2007 at the time of The Come Up composition. At this time, Cole started working on his own label with the help of his manager Hamad. Cole met Hamed at St. John’s University. Rapper Omen has been working with Cole and Dreamville Records since the day it was launched. Cole met Omen on the rapper Canibus Chat forum when they were around 17 years old.

Dreamville Festival was announced on April 27, 2018. This festival was developed in order to celebrate local music, culture, food, art, and everything that can make the world more beautiful.
