The show From Scratch tells the tragic story of Amy Wheeler, played by Zoe Saldana, an aspiring artist who participates in a study abroad program in Italy. She meets Lino Ortolano, a Sicilian chef, there.Given their disparities in culture, dialects, and foundations, the couple is confronted with many difficulties. The journey of the couple and their love’s triumph over the many challenges of life are the focus of the show.
The life of Tembi Locke, who traveled throughout Italy and fell in love with Saro Gullo before tragically losing her husband to a rare form of cancer, serves as the basis for the series. Although the names have been changed, the events are very similar. Following her high school graduation, Locke moved to Italy, where she met her future husband, Gullo, just like in the show. The fact that Gullo’s family was dissatisfied with his decision to marry a Black woman from Texas was one of the couple’s major downfalls.

Zoe Saldana, who also serves as a producer, and Eugenio Mastrandra star in the show, which was created by Attica Locke and Tembi Locke. The executive producers are Moreover, Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Richard Abate, Jermaine Johnson, and Will Rowbotham.
