What percent of marriages end with divorce in America?

It is reported that in America, almost 50% of all marriages end in divorce. This fact is often used as a justification to avoid marriage.

People are often seen saying "why to get married if you’re 50 percent likely to join that divorce rate statistic?"

As the research is done on a limited amount of individuals and the divorce rate might not be as correct as it appears to be.

It is believed that this research is done on the basis of some unreliable data, throwing the percentage of marriages that end in divorce into doubt.

According to the 2019 American Community Survey, the divorce rate in America is somewhere at 14.9 divorces per 1,000 marriages.

It is believed that this number is the lowest since 1970. However, the actual divorce rate in America is more complicated than we thought it to be.

This divorce rate has some major effects on marriages all over the country. Determining America’s divorce rate is not simple at all.

Howard J. Markman, Ph.D., a psychology professor and co-director of the Center for Marital and Family Studies said, “It’s a good metric, but it’s crude”.

It is calculated that the divorce rate for 2021 was 45%. It is quite better than in 1981 but still, nearly half of all marriages will end in getting separated.
