The Handmaid’s Tale: Alexis Bledel leaving the show Ahead of Season 5

The Handmaid's Tale is an American dystopian television series created by Bruce Miller, based on the 1985 novel of the same name by Canadian author Margaret Atwood.

The series has a total of 4 seasons now and the series has already won Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama.

The story is set in a dystopian future, a woman is forced to live as a concubine under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship.

Now series is renewed for season 5 previously it was reported that season five will be released sometime in 2022, there has been no confirmed date.

Alexis Bledel played the role of Dr. Emily Malek, a former university lecturer in cellular biology and initially June's shopping partner.

Elisabeth Moss played the role of June, a woman who was captured while attempting to escape to Canada with her husband, Luke, and daughter, Hannah.

But now Alexis Bledel is reported to leave the show after 4 seasons the news was confirmed by Entertainment Weekly.

The actress said, "After much thought, I felt I had to step away from The Handmaid's Tale at this time."

"I am forever grateful to (show creator) Bruce Miller for writing such truthful and resonant scenes for Emily, and to Hulu, MGM, the cast and crew for their support," she added
