Richard Stephen Sambora is an American rock guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer best known as the lead guitarist of the rock band Bon Jovi from 1983 to 2013.

Richard got his first guitar when he was only 12 years old. Apart from guitar, he also knows how to play piano, bass, drums, trumpet, saxophone, and accordion.

In an interview, Richard revealed that he played in 30-40 bands before joining Bon Jovi. Richard along with Jon Lovi formed the main songwriting unit for the band.

To date, he has also released three solo albums including Stranger in This Town in 1991, Undiscovered Soul in 1998, and Aftermath of the Lowdown released in September 2012.

In 2002, he got an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Kean University. Later in 2018, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Bon Jovi.

Richard married actress Heather Locklear on December 17, 1994. The wedding ceremony took place in Paris. They welcomed their first daughter Ava Elizabeth Sambora on October 4, 1997.

Later in February 2006, Heather Locklear filed for divorce. Their divorce was finalized on April 11, 2007. He was in a relationship with guitarist Orianthi from 2018 to 2018.
