Elliot Page Was Forced to Wear a Dress for ‘Juno’ Premiere

Elliot Page revealed that he was demanded to wear a dress to the film’s premiere in Toronto in 2007 for the Film Juno'

Elliot Page who came out as Transgender in 2020, went on to land an Academy Award nomination for portraying a sarcastic teen in the film.

During awards-season time, I was closeted, dressed in heels and the whole look — I wasn’t okay, and I didn’t know how to talk about that with anyone,” Page told

Prior to Juno, Elliot said that he had been able to wear what he wanted when doing press or attending film festivals.

"I said I wanted to wear a suit, and Fox Searchlight was basically like, 'No, you need to wear a dress,'” Page said.

"They had me wear a dress, and...that was that. And then all the Juno press, all the photo shoots — Michael Cera was in slacks and sneakers." Page said

"It’s easy for people to roll their eyes, but you know what? No. That was really extremely, extremely (***) up," Page said.

"I wish people would understand that that shit literally did almost kill me," Page continued

"I wish I could go back and experience it now. As me," Page added and seems like Page is now happy with his life and accepted himself.
