Amber Heard Net Worth after losing Defamation Trial
Amber Heard has lost her defamation suit against ex-husband Johnny Depp, 58. Amber was sued by her ex-husband for $50 million over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post.
However, Amber never clearly stated Johnny's name, he was perceived to be the abuser in her story. According to Johnny, the statement of Amber ruined his life entirely.
He also stated that he lost many roles because of Amber's statement. In response to Johnny, Amber countersued him for $100 million, also claiming defamation.
Amber stated that Johnny defamed her through statements made by his then-lawyer, Adam Waldman, published in the Daily Mail in April 2020.
Amber also alleged that Johnny coordinated "a harassment campaign via Twitter and planned online petitions to get her out from Aquaman and L'Oréal."
In the end, the seven-member jury found out that statements made by Amber Heard in the op-ed were defamatory against Johnny and provided $15 million in damages.
Johnny was ordered to pay $2 million to Amber, as the jury found that his lawyer, Adam Waldman, defamed the actress by calling her 2016 claims of abuse a “hoax.”
In total, Johnny is awarded $8.35million in damages. Before the verdict, it was estimated that Amber's net worth was approximately $2.5 million.
Now, she has a net worth of -$8 Million that she had to pay Johnny for damages. It's also possible that the damages could be reduced on appeal.
