All About Netflix's Marilyn Monroe Movie, Blonde

Netflix is set to release the first trailer for its upcoming Andrew Dominik–helmed Marilyn Monroe film, Blonde, based on Joyce Carol Oates's book of the same name.

The anticipated film "Blonde" will hit the streaming platform globally on September 23.

Adrien Brody stars as "The Playwright", Bobby Cannavale as "The Ex-Athlete", and Julianne Nicholson will portray Monroe's mother.

“I read Joyce’s novel, studied hundreds of photographs, videos, audio recordings, films—anything I could get my hands on,” Ana de Armas told Netflix Queue.

The Motion Picture Association rated Blonde as NC-17 citing “some sexual content,” though it didn’t elaborate further.

This would be the first original Netflix film with that rating, though the streamer has hosted other NC-17 films on its platform before.

Netflix released the first teaser on June 16, giving us the first official look at de Armas as the iconic Hollywood bombshell.

De Armas explained to Queue that the film will be more experimental than what most people will probably expect.

Director Andrew Dominik told Netflix's Queue that the movie will, of course, feature memorable moments from Monroe's life.
