Gossamer Folds Official Synopsis

This movie is about a ten-year-old Tate. In 1986, he is forced to spend a lonely summer witnessing the breakup of his parent’s marriage. Tate eventually befriends his new next-door neighbors – recently retired English professor, Edward Bryant and his transgender daughter, Gossamer. Despite his father’s knee-jerk transphobia and his mother’s misplaced protectiveness, Tate forms a deep friendship with fellow misfit Gossamer, which changes his and their family life.

2020 Film Gossamer Folds Trailer Breakdown

In the trailer, we see that Gossamer, who lives in a sleepy suburb of Kansas City and creates costumes for K.C. drag shows and become a fashion designer. She has new next-door neighbors a family that just relocated from the city mom Frannie’s dad Billy and their 10-year-old son, Tate. Tate is bright and curious but lonely and bored in the suburban town. He meets his neighbor who was transgender.

He is initially wary of Gossamer his father calls her the deviant next door and worse but she eventually wins him over, and the story of their friendship is sweet and it evokes both laughter and tears. Gossamer lives with her widowed father, Edward who was an author and retired professor who doesn’t quite understand his daughter but he sometimes uses a male name and pronouns her,  but he loves her.

But on the other hand, tats parents are not happy with each other, His father was leaving his mom for some other person. Tate Millikin is forced to spend a lonely summer witnessing the breakup of his parent’s marriage. Tate forms a deep friendship with fellow misfit Gossamer, which will change his and their family life.
